Heather Scimeca, PA

Heather Scimeca, PA-C, brings more than two decades of experience in medical dermatology to patients throughout Chapel Hill, Durham, Cary, Morrisville, Raleigh, and the greater Triangle region of North Carolina. A Louisiana native, she earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University (LSU), followed by a degree in Physician Assistant Studies from LSU Health Sciences Center–Shreveport and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska.

Since 2002, Heather has provided comprehensive dermatologic care in private practice, multispecialty group, and academic medical settings across the United States. Most recently, she served patients within the Duke Dermatology community, where she was recognized in 2025 for her commitment to clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and outstanding service. Heather specializes in general medical dermatology, with particular expertise in skin cancer screening, skin cancer surveillance, and the management of patients at elevated risk for skin cancer, including solid organ transplant recipients. She is passionate about the early detection and treatment of skin cancers, helping patients maintain lifelong skin health through regular skin examinations, education, and preventive care.

Throughout her career, Heather has been recognized for her leadership and dedication to exceptional patient outcomes, including honors from Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in San Francisco in 2018 and Duke University in 2025.
